FTP
FTP is so easy, you'll be beating your brains out wondering why you never used it before. And since I get lots of inquiries about hosting and they don't know what ftp is, I feel that I need to educate you on the subject. I figured it all out just by looking at it, but I know some people prefer to work with visual instructions.
What is FTP? File Transfer Protocol. A standard method for sending files from one computer to another on TCP/IP networks such as the Internet. FTP is also the name of the command used to initiate transfer of files.
What do I need? I recommend using SmartFtp, found here. It's what I use and what I did this tutorial in. And best of all, it's free!
What do I do? If you get a hosting account with me, you'll be given a username and password. The username would be yourname@retroville.org and you have to make sure you enter the @retroville.org when you are entering your username. When you access your username through ftp, you only have direct access to your file. This means, you would upload your files directly to this folder and any subfolders you make will be under that one. Here's a visual look at using FTP:
| Step one: Open Smart FTP and
enter your information.
|
1A Enter the server

| Step twp: Upload your files to your folder
Select the commands |
Select Your
Files and hit open. HINT: Holding down control allows you to select specific
files.
|
| Step Three (Optional): Make a subfolder
